Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

What a great experience! We went to the one around Clayton (we are new here so I'm not sure of the specific area, U City?). I love that parking is spacious and free outside the restaurant. We started with the peppercorn ranch salad (like a BLT salad)- delicious. I can't wait to go back for this. we split a small pizza - half Bronx bomber and half of a special taco pizza. We both preferred the Bronx bomber. The pizza is NY style and the crust tastes different than most pizza places. We will definitely go back soon!

Pork-a-palooza was our theme for the night. Waited 10 mins or so during a rush, not a bad wait at all as the were so busy. Started with a side salad and then ordered the 17" half Hawaiian and half special which was the Cuban! Hawaiian was great as expected but the Cuban was really amazing. I am glad we only got half Cuban because the mustard sauce was good but would have been too much had it been a full pizza. Only reason why I didn't give a 5 was the crust was a bit undercooked...perhaps a bit harsh to deduct a star for crust but hey...can't win um all.

I love Dewey's. Out of ALL the pizza possibilities in this town. Dewey's is my #1! My preferred location is the Webster Groves location due to its proximity to my house, but I recently found my way to this location due to it being close to where I was at the moment. All Dewey's locations are completely consistent in terms of quality and service, and this was no different. Great food, great service. The pizza is amazing and salads are the best. PLEASE bring back the Harvest salad! I miss it so much in summer! I'll be back again and again. Love it!

Visiting St. Louis from South Carolina. A friend old us we had to try this pizza. Service was great. Pizza and salad were delish!!!

I live nearby and this place is always very busy. Many of my friends love their pizza. Maybe I'm pickier, growing up on the east coast. While their sauce and toppings are tasty, I am not a fan of their crust. I also find the salads quite ordinary. I prefer Crushed Red's flatbreads, Pi's crust or Racanelli's authentic pizza.

Service~ 2 Stars Food ~ 5 Stars I've been to Dewey's a couple of times and normally the service is great (4 Star and above). I really love the pizza there (the bronx bomber is excellent), and they always have good beers on tap. I went last week around 8:30 PM, however, and I have to say the while I still loved the pizza, the service left a bad taste in my mouth. First of all, when the waiter (a short blonde guy) brought the water he gave us a loud "you're welcome," before we had said thank you (no matter how slow the thank you comes, that is uncalled for). Second, he rarely came to our table, while continually checking on the table next to ours. The only time he came was after I flagged him down, and that was after he again check on the table next to us. As I mentioned earlier, typically I love Dewey's and normally the service is spot on (4-5 Stars). The last time, however, made the dining experience less than enjoyable.

We ordered the Caesar salad, Greek salad, and Deluxe/Supreme pizza and everything was amaze. The veggies were fresh. Crust perfect. Cooked to perfection. I had Pizza Hut a few days ago (gross) and this was sooooo refreshing and delicious in comparison. My mom even gave it a thumbs up and she is tough to please when it comes to pizza. Will be coming back for more
(5)Alex Y.
Been going here since college back in 2011 and absolutely loved their pizza! Everything is made fresh, which makes the dough extra chewy and adding texture. Recommended toppings are green lantern, and be sure to check out the specials!

If you ask me or my girlfriend we'd say Deweys is the best pizza in the STL. Sometimes we just think about watching those people inside the glass windows all day just so that we can make the same dough. Just kidding, thats super-creepy. But seriously, the dough here is unlike any other, it has that extra fluff and is super-easy to roll slice after slice down your throat. The salads here are pretty great too, my favorite is the house-salad. For a party of four a full-size salad, a 17" and a a 15" pizza are more than sufficient and should leave you with a couple of slices for breakfast the next day. My favorite pizza here is the BBQ chicken, the other pizzas are pretty great too but we always end up saying "man, we should have got the BBQ chicken!"
(5)Michael N.
OK St. Louis - let's face it. You're not famous for your pizza. Nor your beloved "cheese" (Provel). Yeah - you heard me. With that said, pizza lovers will not starve in the Gateway to the West. Dewey's pizza has a thicker crust than the cracker crust St Louis is infamous for. They use mozzarella instead of Provel, too. So already things are looking good here. They have a wide range of pizzas - all tasty. Service is fast and takeout is available. You can even get partially baked pizzas which can be super convenient. Their crust falls somewhere between STL and NYC - soft but not too soft, with a bit of crunch. Not soggy (I will never understand why New Yorkers think pizza crusts should be soggy). Their crust is pretty good, but it never quite 100% does it for me. TLDR: solid pizza, good crust, real cheese, lots of choices, vegi friendly.

Our first experience and it was delicious! We ordered a large pepperoni and a small Green Lantern -both were very good. Wait staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a little loud but they were busy. Only suggestion would be to expand the appetizer menu
(4)Jacqueline N.
My friends and I like to eat out a lot. We went to Dewey's a place I had never heard of and assumed it was just another pizza joint with nothing special about it. I was wrong. At first I was impressed by the service. The menu didn't sound appetizing because I was used to a 'normal' pizza with some meat and veggies. We ordered two pizzas, they were so good that we ordered a third. The fruit and vegetables tasted fresh and the pizzas were full of flavor. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
(5)Samantha A.
Dewey's is probably my favorite pizza place in all of St. Louis!!! First, they have AMAZING calzones. I always get the chicken and pineapple and it is always delicious!!! Second, their prices!!!!! My calzone (which was the size of half of a large dinner plate) was only $8! Third, their desserts! They typically have a variety of desserts, which I think most (if not all) are from outside. Last night I had a chocolate peanut butter cheesecake from Hank's Cheesecakes. It was definitely one of the best cheesecakes I have ever had in my life. I also love that Dewey's knows what it does well and outsources items that it knows others do better. Fourth, they have several good beers to choose from, which they change rather frequently. Finally, their service is outstanding. Last night my friend and I ordered two calzones and they ended up bringing her the wrong order. Instead of a chicken and pineapple calzone and a pineapple and onion calzone, they brought out two chicken and pineapple calzones. They let me box up the extra calzone. They brought her the correct calzone as soon as possible AND they only charged us for one calzone!!!!!! We got 2 calzones for free, which I thought was amazing. I most certainly will be back!

HECK YES! Great pizza, fresh amazing salads, and fast friendly service - not only is Dewey's just simply fantastic, but it's a great spot for families. We create our own vegan pizza (carmalized onions, garlic, tomatoes) and get their house salad minus the feta cheese - totally amazeballs! Oh, they also have a scrumptious local IPA on tap to pop your brains out. It's great for those with kids because service is fast, but moreso - there's lots of people creating that social buzz noise that drowns out the occasional toddler yelp. We've never had to wait for a table but they are always filled with people - I crave their pizza and salad all the time now, thanks Dewey's for knocking my socks off!

great pizza......
(5)Anna B.
I mean... I just really love pizza and Dewey's does it right. Take out, eat in, cater it for a party, you really can't go wrong. I have this pizza frequently for work and also love to come in for a dinner out with friends so I've tried pretty much every single pizza on the menu. I pretty much love all of them. If you are looking for a good pizza, whether you want to go classic, try something new and fancy, or create your own, this is the restaurant for you. Plus the ambiance in the restaurant is pretty great whether you a with your family or on a date. Dewey's is jack of all trades, master of all.
(4)Shabrina J.
This is a great local pizza joint. They have branches arnd town. I tried the Bronx bomber pizza and it was delicious. Other options on the menu look good as well- a good balance of meat and veggies for flavor on the pizza.
(5)Chelsea B.
Ordered the Ryan's inferno and the Bronx bomb they were both soooo good and it's pretty affordable if you do a half and half large. Quick seating and awesome service too! I will be back very very soon!
(5)Michelle H.
This is, by far, my favorite pizza place in STL. I've tried the Killer Veggie, Socrates Revenge, and the Edgar Allan Poe and all of them are amazing. The toppings are always fresh and pretty evenly distributed and the crust is amazing; it's not too thick or thin, it's just right. The salads are excellent and the small salad is enough for 2 people to share. The servers are friendly and attentive, which always makes for a pleasant experience. I don't believe they take reservations, so be sure to get there early if you're going on a weekend evening, or be prepared to wait.
(5)Jamie R.
This place is tied with Pi for my favorite pizza in St. Louis. I've done dine-in and carry-out, no complaints either time. They do classics well (get the pepperoni, you won't be sorry!) but their specialty pizzas are also amazing. The meatball pizza with fresh basil is unbelievable. Fair warning, if you come for an early-ish dinner there will be a lot of children/families. But delicious pizza is equal opportunity fare, right?
(4)Christie S.
Sometimes I forget how much I love Dewey's. I gotta say, even though this place specializes in pizza, their salads are almost better. I started with the peppercorn ranch salad and it is to die for. How could it not be, with all my favorite stuff - bacon, parmesan cheese, ranch dressing? All the ingredients are so high quality. You can tell. I also like that it comes pre-mixed, so you don't have to sit there and spew salad all over the table trying to mix it yourself. I love that you can order any of their salads as a side salad and you can order any of their specialty pizzas half and half. This time I tried half Edgar Allan Poe (olive oil, mozzarella-fontina blend, mushrooms, roasted garlic, kalamata olives and goat cheese, tomatoes and parsley) and half of their seasonal pizza, The Cuban, (mustard base, mozzarella, pulled pork, pickles, Canadian bacon, mojo sauce, swiss cheese). Both were great and I liked having two vastly different varieties side-by-side. I'm embarrassed to say, my favorite from Dewey's is still the plain-old pepperoni. Apparently I have the palette of an 8-year old.
(4)Brad C.
Very consistent. Sauce is spicy and cheese is salty, which is a perfect combo for deliciousness. I also love their dough. I'd recommend using it for a homemade calzone.
(4)Katie T.
Really great pizza crust, yummy pizza for sure. Their salads are great too!
(4)Lydia L.
Great family-friendly venue with quick service. They also let you split the pizza half-and-half, which is great when you're looking for variety. This reminds me a lot of Mellow Mushroom in Atlanta. I'm partial to Neopolitan, but I'd get take-out pizza from here again.
(3)Elizabeth F.
Dewey's is my favorite pizza in St. Louis, bar none. Awesome crust that is just the right amount of chewy, not too expensive (hence beating out Pi Pizza for the number one spot in my heart), and a great selection of toppings, either through their menu or with the create your own. Add to that their awesome beer list and the ability to watch TV (but not requirement, TVs aren't that loud and its easy to sit away from them), and Dewey's is one of my go-to's for a casual dinner or lunch. If you've never been and you're carnivorous, I highly recommend trying the Meatball pizza on your first visit!
(5)Kristen S.
Dewey's is a must try if you have not been! Great Salads large enough to share. High quality pizza toppings on a delicious hand tossed crust. Best part of Dewy's is their team attitude between workers, they train their staff to work together- love it! Always leave pleased with leftovers for the next day!
(5)Christina S.
Delicious! I'm here in STL from SD for work and had come on a recommendation from a coworker. I ordered the calzone and at first sight, this thing was intimidating and huge - took up a little over half of my plate! The taste: their calzone was on point. Especially the dough. It was like nothing I have ever had before, for real dough. Heh. Heh. It is the creation of the Gods. Dip it in their marinara sauce, and you almost forget your are eating alone! (my situation... & I hate eating alone).
(5)Kiersten L.
We went in an hour before close, the waiter was very nice and the pizza was probably one of the best I've had in St. Louis.

The office was celebrating a birthday on Monday. We chose THIS Dewey's, because of the convenience of a parking lot . . . and closeness to the office. Oh, my, I haven't been here enough. I forgot how divine the Dewey's salads and pizzas are. With the four of us, we split the "regular" sized salads and split pizzas. I was on the split of the Harvest salad ($7.95 for the regular): field greens with figs, chopped applewood bacon, roasted pumpkin seeds and boursin cheese with apple cider vinaigrette. This is a monumental salad and could easily serve three or maybe even four, since you're going to eat pizza, too. When I was done with my half of the salad, I was stuffed . . . BUT I wasn't letting anything stay on the plate, it was so delicious! The figs were plentiful, bacon, too. Boursin cheese was overall adequate but in proportion, a little skimpy. On the pizzas: two split the caprese and Hawaiian -- both looked ridiculously fresh and lucious, and were declared delicious. My pizza partner and I split the 17-inch Bronx Bomber ($20.45): red sauce, Mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage (sliced), mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives. Toppings, sauce and crust (good, yeasty dough) were deliriously in perfect proportion, with generous toppings. This is just divine salad and pizza. Service was top-notch, too!
(5)Brian B.
We have been here several times over the years and it is always a consistently good experience. This time we had the Caprice pizza and it was impressive, the crust seemed better than previous visits. The salad was good too, as was the seasonal craft beer. The pizza and beer combination here has always been great. We got there early so didn't have to wait in line--lots more families with small children on this visit. Although I miss the old neighborhood (there was a mid-century design gas station across the street and houses on both sides of the street at one time) I do appreciate the convenience of the parking lot.
(4)Kristina J.
We decided to visit Deweys after seeing a picture of the pizza on Facebook. We ordered the veggie pizza and the other half the bronx. We were impressed with customer service and the fresh ingredients! Food came out piping hot! We will be back.
(5)Anthony S.
We live right around the corner from this location but I would make the drive if I needed to. Whether you want a pizza, calzone, or just a awesoem salad Dewey's will reliably satisfy your cravings. Dewey's definetly deserves its status as a great, friendly, quality St. Louis pizzeria among other greats such as Pi, The Good Pie, La Pizza, and Katie's Pizza.
(4)Kirk K.
Dewey's is our (not deep dish) favorite in the STL. My wife loves the white sauce and I love that we can go half and half on everything. Our daughter loves the open kitchen where she can watch our pizzas being made. The crust is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The pizza does use mozzarella rather than provel, so depending on which side of the great STL pizza divide you are on that could be a good thing or a bad thing. For me it's a very good thing.
(5)Brian L.
Friendly people. Great service, upbeat environment. Great pizza. had the X pepp, and it was awesome. I will return.
(4)Hao X.
My experience with Dewey's Pizza is really a story about dough and crust. Growing up, I was not a fan of pizza crust. Things from chain restaurants were always too dry, too bland, and something hard and unpleasant. Like a good little girl, I ate that crust to not waste food. However, I always resented pizza crust for making me suffer. Sometime in my childhood, i discovered thin crust pizza and loved it. Horray! No more end crust to worry about! I thought that was the end of the story... And then on Saturday, my boyfriend and I went to Dewey's Pizza. He'll eat pizza every meal if he can. I was hungry, he wasn't very hungry, so I said let's get pizza! We drove to Dewey's and pretty easily found a parky spot on a Saturday evening (points already). The wait staff was really nice and attentive and we were pretty quickly seated in a nice corner booth. Water came promptly with a wedge of lemon and we ordered a large pizza that was half meatball (red sauce) and half wild mushroom (white sauce). Our pizza came really quickly. It was hot with nice melty cheese but didn't threaten to burn me. Also, our toppings didn't try to separate themselves from the crust. Dewey's, you totally win on that front. I ate my slice of pizza. Both types were delicous. And then I started tackling the crust. I expected to feel meh towards it like I feel meh towards all other crusts. Boy was I wrong! I bit into the piece of fluffy dough and I just fell in love with that crust. They were like perfect breadsticks! Fluffy, moist, and covered in traces of white-sauce. TOTAL WIN! So yeah. Dewey's, your space is nice but not amazing and your pizzas are solid. However, you completely sold me on your pizza crust. Thus, you get 5 stars... just for the outstanding pizza crust. Yum.
(5)Lauren R.
I've never been disappointed by the food at Deweys. The service is always great and there is hardly ever a long wait for your order. Its a great pizza place to share with friends and family who live outside of the area.
(5)Ming L.
The pizza is always good and consistent! The salads are awesome, but I noticed the portion became smaller lately! This place is very kid friendly and is our pizza take out place too!
(5)Mykia O.
So good! I go to Dewey's whenever I get a chance. The white sauce pizza is sooo good. If you've never gone, GO! So worth it.
(5)Sandy M.
I actually came here in search of a calzone to compete with Sauce on the Side, since SOTS is soooo far away. I unfortunately didn't find the calzone here to be in the same league, but the crust was good enough that I want to come back and try the pizza. Service was great, loved the windows and the open feel of the restaurant. I'll definitely be back!
(4)Jeremy L.
My favorite pizza place. Anywhere. And a priority whenever I visit St. Louis. Wild Mushroom. Meatball. Bronx Bomber. Hawaiian. Southwest BBQ Chicken. The flavors are well thought out and combined; the crust is tasty, a little chewy, and finish-able on every slice. Toppings are top notch and everything tastes so good together. The homemade meatballs are particularly noteworthy. Plus seasonal specials like a Cheeseburger and a taco-themed pizza that I can't remember the name to pop up every now and then. The creativity at Dewey's is head and shoulders above other pizza joints. On my most recent trip, I even decided to give their Strawberry-Macademia nut salad a shot even though I almost never order salad. And behold, it was delicious. It was also shared among 8 people so the small portion of greens didn't detract my stomach from awaiting the mouth-watering pies that were coming. Since I'm always here with groups of friends, the ability to split the pizzas half-half of any topping combinations is key. 4 pizzas can result in 8 different flavor combos to delight your taste buds! Service is always friendly and attentive; the servers are plentiful and helpful, sometimes with a trainee in tow as well. The place can be packed but things move pretty quickly so the wait is never too long. A couple TVs allow for some casual viewing if a big game is on but they're never distracting. Beer selection isn't massive, but good drafts are always on tap. Overall the atmosphere is casual and fun. Clean and kid/family friendly too. 5 stars because this is what pizza should be. Fun, delicious, and without the heavy feeling of grease, heavy stomachs, and dying arteries. Better than any deep-dish, that's for sure. President Obama should get his St. Louis food priorities straightened out.
(5)Teresa T.
Dewey's never disappoints. Bronx bomber pizza delicious. Crust crisp but chewey and just the right spice to the sauce. And service is always spot on. New harvest salad tasty but like the house balsamic better. Can't wait for the next visit.
(4)Alex N.
Great (really friendly) service, cool ambiance, and tasty pizza. I definitely recommend!
(4)Lorraine N.
hubby bought home a pizza from here the other day and he did half for him and half for me and I just wanted to comment on how delicious my side of the pizza was....I am so glad he stepped out on a limb and got me some lady pizza.....it is called the figgy and had caramelized onions, Gorgonzola cheese, and figs on it...oh yeah and some prosciutto----absolutely wonderful .....just wanted to recommend that to anybody that may like those flavors....sounds weird but oh my....in such a good way
(5)Crystal R.
We stopped in for a late lunch after boppin' around the Loop. We've heard good things and have been meaning to check this place out but we love our regular pizza places so we rarely want to try any new ones. We are so glad we did though since we loved everything! We ordered our pizza split in half so that we could try both types of sauce....red and white. One half was the Bronx Bomber and the other was the Billy Goat. Both were really, really good! I loved the Bronx Bomber the best....wonderful sausage! We will most definitely return and our waitress Ilana did an excellent job!!!
(5)Bobby Ray H.
I have eaten at Dewey's likely over a dozen times between the period I moved to U-City and now living in Florissant. I have only been to the U-City location. Every time I am there, the waiting service is top notch. They are kind, knowledgable, and very social. Dewey's is always packed when I go on Fridays and Saturdays. Rightly so. Sometimes it can feel a bit crowded and perhaps a bit loud but it doesn't really bother me. Their pizza choices are plentiful and very creative. They always have a feature pizza they are making too. The crust is likely the best hand tossed crust in the city and one of the best I've had to date. You can actually watch them make their crust too! My only dig on this place is their craft beer selection; its average at best. Dead Guy Ale, Bell's Amber, and Schlafly APA are painfully average craft beers that have a lot of hype around them (will likely sell very well however). I just want them to have a special tap for beer elitists like myself. Just one tap! Please! Paying 6 bucks for Dead Guy Ale is all sorts of lame! 90/100. Recommended.
(4)Lacey H.
I just moved to St.Louis and was so excited to hit a great pizza place my first night! The dough is the right consistency for me, not too thick and not too thin. My boyfriend and I ordered a full pepperoni with half jalepenos. I loved how it wasn't too greasy and made for great leftovers the next day. I would completely recommend stopping by here the next time you need your pizza fix!
(5)Kent C.
It's really hurts my soul to read these reviews that say they love the crust. Maybe I'm just too much of a New Yorker to like Dewey's crust. It's ok and I'll live with it. It's this doughy texture which is fine, but please stop raving about it. I've had better... I had the pepperoni and the bbq chicken. Nothing special, but it wasn't bad. I like the fact there was corn on the bbq chicken pizza. If you put corn on anything it's automatically delicious. The service was good too, but that might have been cause we were there at closing time and they wanted us to GTFO, they didn't say it but turned on mad depressing music. We got the hint guys, but to spite you we stayed longer.

# of Visits: 17 Food: 10/10 Drink: 8/10 Atmosphere: 7/10 Price: 6/10 Service: 7/10 Eat This: Edgar Allen Poe, Socrates' Revenge Drink This: Schlafly Oatmeal Stout I find myself craving Dewey's pizza more than any other. Wife and friends love it, too. Very unique pizza. Katie's Pizza is better, but not by much. This is really great pizza. I usually do take home. Restaurant nothing special. I could eat this everyday.
(4)Ming C.
Just went to Dewey's for lunch with a large group of 9 and was seated fast. Service was very fast and consistent. For the lunch rush, our orders were taken right when we got there and we only had to wait about 10 minutes for our pizzas. I got the 13' Billy Goat pizza and I enjoyed it. Chewy crust with very fresh ingredients. Would definietely go there again to try their other choices
(4)Jessica C.
There's pizza, there's good pizza, and then there's everyone stops talking because they're too busy stuffing their face pizza. Dewey's pizza renders me instantly speechless. I love love love it. It's the best pizza in St Louis, hands down (I realize that this statement is likely heresy in the Arch City, but I stand by it). You can't go wrong with any of their offerings, but my favorites are the Edgar Allen Poe (whole roasted cloves of garlic and goat cheese? on a pizza? yes, please!) , the meatball and the Hawaiian. The meatball in particular is easily the best version of meatball pizza I've ever had. The meatballs, instead of being greasy little duds of meat, are quartered full sized meatballs. They're not greasy but still moist, pleasantly tender and flavorful. The Hawaiian features thin slices of Canadian bacon, which has a nice haminess to it. Their salads are quite good, too. You see a lot of families in here and I completely understand why. Dewey's is a rare restaurant in that it offers something for everyone, whether it's a 2 year old who only eats cheese pizza to the gourmand who wants exotic offerings. The only hitch at Dewey's is the wait for a table. This place is popular, so unless you come really early or really late, you will have to wait a bit for your table. On the upside, they've recently expanded their parking lot, so it's much easier to park than it used to be.
(5)Chrissie C.
Went here for the first time with friends last weekend. I have also been a big Pi enthusiast so I was not sure what to expect. But man! I am not sure now which one I like better. The ingredients were great, tons of choices! I personally love any place that can offer me pineapple and prosciutto on one pizza! The prices were just right, and the sizes were awesome! Our waitress was so nice in taking her time explaining any the odd questions we had - which is always a big thing for me! A+++ I will be going back again for such, and bringing a good appetite this time! ;)
(5)Pablo S.
The restaurant has a modern decor and ample seating. The beer menu is average. We got the buffalo chicken pizza with half of a bronx/brooklyn bomber. The crust was kinda chewy but pretty good. Good buffalo sauce.
(4)In Stl ..
The pizza is good. Loud atmosphere usually. I don't think they take reservations so there can be long waits.
(4)Katherine T.
Above quality service from a chain. Great staff and training is evident. They do a good job of separating themselves from the competition. I really appreciated the ability to choose completely different toppings for each half of a pizza. I tried the green lantern and buffalo chicken. I am not going to find myself craving either but they were both good.
(3)Patrick B.
Great pizza, better salads, and a decent wine/beer list. As a St. Louis native who has traveled extensively, I can say I like all pizza. New York, Chigago, St. Louis, Sicilian, its all good and Deweys is right up there. I don't generally endorse chain restaurants, but this is a good one.
(4)Anne M.
Dewey's is like heaven in your mouth. The dough/crust is the perfect thickness... just enough crust but not overwhelming, and warm and moist. My favorite pizza is the Green Lantern, and I add whole roasted garlic. Mmmm. Toppings are quality and plentiful, and all the flavors blend together perfectly. Service is always great, and the atmosphere is clean and casual. I used to always get the mushroom lover's one (I forget the exact name) - until I discovered the amazingness that is the Green Lantern. Seriously this is the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life (including authentic NY and Chicago pizza.) Salads are good as well. I am reviewing this location because it's the one I go to 99% of the time, however last time I was craving Dewey's at 10:45 pm after an 11 hour work day in the June humidity, I was forced to visit the Webster Groves location. Not only did they take my order, but pleasantly gave me directions and waited for me past closing time to come and pick up my pizza (and gave it to me with a smile!) (Thank you WG employee/manager!!)

I can't for the life of me figure out what the hype is all about with this place. To be fair, I have tried several of their pizza's and salads more than once. However, I will not be eating here again. Pizza: It is meh....there is nothing special about it, it is bland, and just not that great tasting. The dough is doughy and not appealing. Last time we ordered a medium pie and I only had once piece...just wasn't worth the calories for two pieces. Salads: These are awful, there are huge pieces of lettuce, I felt like a rabbit, a very unhappy rabbit. And don't order the Greek salad thinking it is Greek, it resembles nothing close to a Greek salad. If I want good pizza I am going to Katie's or Pi, I would not waste my time here.

Quit your bitching, Lactose Intolerance. We're going to Dewey's. I forbid you from ordering just a plain cheese pizza. You're not 8 years old anymore. Order one of the specialty pizzas here. You can pick off the veggies. I know you're from St. Louis and you think you're cool because you eat thin crust and provel cheese, but Atkins is so four years ago and provel cheese tastes like a foot. Some deets (a cool way of saying "details", so I should get some votes for "cool"): you can park in the parking lot of the bank across the street in the evening, wait staff is not assigned a section so basically you have every staff person at your beck and call, lots of screaming kids only slightly damper the ambiance. I would have to say that if a dude took me to this place for a date, there would be a 99.9% chance of a second date, even if he farted in the car AND "forgot his wallet". Seriously. Good date spot. Who needs a date? Me and the pizza at Dewey's are going to get a room.
(5)Leslie S.
Just as tasty as my 1st visit to Dewey's at the Webster Groves location. I love that you can get your pizza split half red sauce, half white sauce (an olive oil blend). This time we got the seasonal Italian-style for our red half and the Wild Mushroom for the white half. The Wild Mushroom on cheese and olive oil was much better than I even expected. The side salads are big enough to split between two people, especially if you're getting pizza as well. We split a side of the House Salad and got the 17" (middle size) pizza between 2 of us and had 2 slices left over for later.

Excellent pizza selection and, surprisingly, really great salads and lots of beers. The staff here is far more knowledgeable about their ingredients and good beer/pizza pairings than most other pizza places. The pizza is so worth it for either dine-in or carry-out. Great atmosphere, too: you can easily take a date here without feeling cheap and you can take your parents to dinner here without feeling like you're courting them. Perfect combo :-)
(5)Ryan P.
Fresh tasty toppings, good crust, very good service! Not a cheap pizza joint but worth it unlike some similarly priced pizza spots. Everyone working there both back and front of house seemed well trained!
(4)Sue J.
I like Deweys's primary because it's close to my house. The pizza looks great and the crust is good. My gripe with Dewey's is that the pizzas are just so salty. We had the pepperoni, socrates revenge, and bronx bomber. It's like a eatting a brick of salt. I'm not sure if it's the amount of salt sauce combined with the salty meat, but the combo so overwhelming, I tastebuds are numb to any other flavor. Otherwise, if they fix that, I would love it. As for the salads, they're a good size, but seems like something you can toss together yourself. I usually not get because don't want to spend the money on it.

I was invited by some friends to Dewey's Pizza on a busy Friday night. Atmosphere was awesome, great energy and very friendly and accomadating staff for our party of twelve. Sam,our server, greated us with a smile at our table and gave us a five star tour of the menu since we had never been here before and it was a great help because they have lots of choices. She proved to be a knowledgable employee about the menu and quite the seller. Since this was our fist time at the restaurant I wasn't sure how the service team operated because after Sam took our orders we never saw her again and where serviced by other members of the team (more drinks, etc.) Not a big deal, because we where taken care of by other members of the team, but the introduction from her in the beginning lead me to believe we would get that same level of service from her the entire night. Not the case...... I will definitly repeat. Great pizza!

How am I only the second person to review this place? If you are going I would say make resevations because there has been a wait every time I go there. I would say the wait is usually 25 minutes too, but the pizza is so good I don't mind waiting. There is a bonus to waiting though, their kichen walls are right buy where you wait and they have huge windows so you can watch them make the pizza. I would say it holds adults and well as kids over until you can be seated. You can call it in though too. The pizza here is delious! I have had about 3/4 of their entire menu and everything I have had is great. My favorites are Edgar Allan Poe and Bronx Bomber. Their crust is so light but filling, it kind of makes the pizza.
(4)Paul S.
Southwest BBQ Chicken pizza is superb!! I also love the peppercorn ranch salad. Dewey's is definitely my favorite pizza place.
(5)Sarah G.
I am originally from Chicago so moving to Saint Louis and trying your version of pizza was a shock. This is by far my favorite pizza place in the STL. Has unique or basic pizzas depending on your preference and a great selection of beer on tap (if you like hoppy, IPA beers). It is always busy so be prepared to wait.
(4)Lily L.
My absolute, hands down, favorite pizza in Saint Louis. I loooove this place. I always get the Socrates Revenge and it is so delicious! I love how they have great vegetarian options, and their crust is to die for. It's more of a traditional American pizza crust- not deep, not thin. But it is buttery and light and incredibly amazing
(5)Alana Z.
Had never been to Dewey's before but decided to go with a friend who was a big fan of their location in Cincinnati! I ordered a caesar salad, which was a really good basic salad. We decided to order a pizza and do half and half with the bbq chicken and the seasonal pizza at the time (don't remember what is was) but it was delicious! Overall, great food, prompt and friendly service! I will definitely go back!
(5)Johanna C.
Good, standard pizza place. Strangely, both times I've been here, the server has spoken to the male in the group to get our order. A little old-fashioned I'd say.
(4)Jackie T.
Love me some Deweys! Service is a plus, and food never disapoints. Calzones are huge. Prices are worth it! Taco pizza ( seasonal) great! Salads are the bomb. I would recommend the Strawberry Walnut or Peppercorn Ranch.
(5)Julia W.
Pros: - The best pizza dough/crust in St. Louis. I LOVE how soft and doughy it is. - Specialty pizzas are the bomb. The Green Lantern is super yum. My favorite so far. - Salads hold their own. I've had about every kind of salad they offer, including some specialty ones, and they are always delicious. - Monthly Specialty pizza and salad make it fun to come back time after time. There's always something new on the menu. - Less expensive than other pizza joints. I'm talking about Pi and Katie's. - Excellent Beer Selection. They swap out seasonal beers on a regular basis. I've been able to try a new beer every time I've eaten there. Cons: - Basic pizzas (like pepperoni of Hawaiian) are nothing to write home about. They crust is still delish in my mind, but the toppings are nothing new. Also, the canadian bacon is so big on the Hawaiian it covers an entire slice. Weird. - They may be more expensive, but Pi and Katie's has Dewey's beat on creative combinations and fresh ingredients. I'm not saying Dewey's isn't fresh, but something about the other places have that feel like they just picked the ingredients from their garden in back. Dewey's, not so much. But this is hardly a con, just something as a comparison.

We hit the U City Dewey's after a movie at the Tivoli. We were surprised that at 9:30, it was still packed with families and young kids. It was loud and busy, but fun, and we were given a booth in which we could still have a conversation and nice meal. The service here is amazing. Our server was prompt and smiling, and came back with our starter salad within minutes of ordering. It was fresh and tasty. While we were eating, a chef , GM, or manager of some sort checked on us. Next, we got a half & half pizza, which is actively promoted or even encouraged by the waitstaff. Not too common at a pizza joint where sometimes that is not allowed, costs extra, or is greeted with an eye roll... Pizza was good- solid crust, lots of yummy ingredients, and the perfect amount for us. We got checked on a few more times- and while this might be overkill at cozy, romantic place, it's spot on for a family joint in which kids, parents, etc have many requests and needs. In addition to the enthusiastic service, other employees were cleaning and helping out all over the restaurant. Well run place. Not necessarily our speed on a regular basis with not having kids, but glad we went.
(4)Isla E.
Oooh, that was a damn good Greek Salad. With roasted cloves of garlic! The red pepper dressing is like ajvar. If you like your salads a little naughty, Dewey's is the place. These salads are not rabbit food. The pizza...not really my style. First, the crust is regular thickness. I like either super thin or deep dish/pan. It's a high quality product and you can watch the cooks make it through a window, but it doesn't speak to my soul. Children, however, may enjoy the production. And they will make any manner of combinations for you, including mixing their white sauce and their red sauce. The white sauce is not heavy, btw, it is an olive oil blend. With garlic, again. I like garlic and I like Dewey's for liking garlic. The service was so impeccable; I can't give this waiter enough stars. I wish I remembered his name. They have some great Italian sparkling water, and a good beer selection.
(4)Joselyn H.
I like Dewey's but I'm not in love with it. Alas, my heart belongs to Pi (always and forever). Dewey's can be really good. The one problem i have had is that sometimes my pizza seems to be underbaked. Maybe they bake them this way on purpose and i should tell them to bake it more? Just a few more minutes in the oven and it would be awesome. That being said, the ingredients are fresh and the service is always good and they have a decent beer selection. And others really seem to love it. If i have out of towners around who are picky...this is a great option. Oh and kids like it. I don't know a thing about kids, but apparently they like to watch the pizza being made and they like to eat pizza too.
(3)Sarah S.
Love this place! Try it on a weekday evening for dinner...a 2 hour wait is standard for Friday and Saturday evenings. This place gets packed! We love the meatball pizza and harvest salad with cranberries!
(5)Teagues C.
I get the Green Lantern (usually the large) and eat it for leftovers for a few days. Super good! Also they usually have cheesecake which is pretty awesome! I have only got carry-out and always been very satisfied!
(4)Stephanie I.
Had to update my review after eating here again this week. The pizza here is just average, in my opinion! Good, but definitely not as good as places like Katie's. Had a nice lunch with coworkers, but it wouldn't be my first choice to come back.
(3)Monsieur E.
Quality local joint but slightly overpriced. If you haven't been here yet then you need to go at least once. Great unique selection.
(4)Ashley A.
Delicious. Seriously. Things you should know: -They have a window into the kitchen so you can stand from the observation deck and watch them twirl dough. -You can totally get half white sauce and half red. -Umm, yeah. Long wait on a Friday night. Call ahead, order your pizza for takeout, and eat it elsewhere. Like in your car. Or maybe at home, but who can wait that long? -Parking's a total killer. -This is my favorite pizza in St. Louis, and maybe ever since I haven't found something that compares in another city. I usually will make sacrifices when it comes to price (i.e. I'll order the cheapest delivery I can find), but I go all out when I got to Deweys, and it's so worth it.
(4)Beth G.
Great service! Very friendly staff and delicious pizza.
(5)Megan K.
Best pizza in Saint Louis. Whenever my family wants pizza, we always go to Dewey's. Great service, delicious salads, beer selections and plenty of seating. I recommend the Bronx Bomber and the Southwest BBQ Chicken.
(5)Danielle W.
I love Dewey's! I can walk to Dewey's from my apartment and while I wait I have a Shock Top and sit around feeling good about the night. When I go to Dewey's I usually order the exact same thing every time and it never fails to please my pizza cravings. I get a salad to start to get my appetite worked up and then I get an extra cheese pizza. I love their crust, I love their sauce, I love their cheese. Really, everything is great about Dewey's. I do sometimes get confused when I have one waitress and then another and then another, but I guess that is what makes Dewey's tick. Sometimes I place a take out order and again...never fails to satisfy!
(5)Ricky D.
I decided not to give out 5 stars anymore unless there is a damn good reason. This place deserves it. The pizza was excellent, as fresh as it gets. Great sauce, lots of toppings, good crust and GREAT service.
(5)Madison N.
It was alright. Not as good as Pi!
(3)Lynn S.
Don't think that I can say enough about how good Dewey's pizza tastes. Coming from someone that eats pizza 1-2 times a week, that's really saying a lot. In the slight chance there might be any leftovers, they never stay around long. Usually eaten for lunch the next day. Re-heats well, that is, if you even bother. The staff is also so friendly and efficient, even when the place is packed. We've had both dine in and carry out. Never had any issues. The pizza is always fantastic. I'm even kind of thinking that I might want some for dinner now that I'm typing this :)
(5)Cherie O.
Dewey's may be my all time favorite pizza place. And this is a Chicago girl talking. Everything about Dewey's is just fabulous. The ingredients are always fresh, the beer is always frothy, and the customer service is over-the-top. This location even just recently expanded their parking next door. What I've had: Salads: House and the Candied Walnut and Grape - Both phenomenal. You won't go wrong with either one...the only mistake is ordering none. Harvest Salad - Ok, but honestly, the above two are much, much better. It's good for a different taste though. Pizzas: *Hawaiian (red sauce, mozzarella, Canadian Bacon, pineapple): Super good and fresh. *Green Lantern (red sauce, mozzarella, minced garlic, mushrooms, goat cheese, artichokes, pesto): An unexpected cacophony of great flavors. *Caprice (olive oil, minced garlic, mozzarella-fontina, basil, roma tomatoes): A little on the too-tart side, but still good. I'd probably wouldn't order it again. *Edgar Allan Poe (olive oil, mozzarella-fontina blend, mushrooms, roasted garlic, kalamata olives, goat cheese, tomatoes, and parsley): I actually didn't like it the first time I had it, but we ordered it again by mistake and it's actually one of my favorites now. *Socrates' Revenge (olive oil, minced garlic, mozzarella-fontina blend, spinach, black olives, green olives, feta cheese, red onions, tomatoes): My Dewey's Staple. This one is fantastic. *Southwest BBQ Chicken (olive oil, smoked cheddar and mozzarella, black bean corn salsa, Amish Chicken, roasted red peppers, bbq sauce): Skip this one. The flavors are too sharp and clash together. *Bronx Bomber (red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives): Phenomenal. It does a body good. *Meatball (red sauce, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, Italian meatballs, oregano, parmesan cheese): This one is good! Best meatball/sausage pizza I have ever tasted. Italian meatballs are flavorful! *Killer Veggie (red sauce, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, onions, black olives, green peppers, fresh tomatoes, parsley): This one is pretty good, but I think that there are other vegetarian options that are better. The fresh tomatoes add on too much of a zing, I think...it would be better without. *Wild Mushroom (olive oil, minced garlic, mozzarella-fontina blend, mushrooms, portobello mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, shitake mushrooms, capers, roasted red peppers): This one is pure yumminess. A surprise must for any vegetarian. *Billy Goat (olive oil, minced garlic, light mozzarella, mushrooms, goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, green peppers, fresh tomatoes): It's ok. Not as good as the other vegetarian options. *Ryan's Inferno (seasonal) (olive oil, light mozzarella cheese, buffalo chicken, gorgonzola cheese, red onion with ranch dressing and celery after the bake): Not very impressive. *Don Corleone (seasonal) (red sauce, pepperoni, salami, prosciutto): A little salty, but pretty good for a meat pizza. I kinda missed the fresh veggies though. *Tito Santana (seasonal)(taco sauce, Chihuahua and Cheddar cheeses, seasoned ground beef, red onions, corn chips, shredded lettuce, Chipotle Ranch, and diced tomatoes): Good. It tastes exactly like a Frito Pie. You can't go wrong with their rotating seasonal pizzas either. Best of all, they let you order half-half pizzas so you get double the yummy goodness!
(5)Katie C.
If Dewey's was a pizza, its toppings would be awesome service, fresh homemade taste and extra, extra friendliness. I went for my first time the other night. We had the Peppercorn Ranch salad (Romaine, bacon, tomato, red onion, parmesan) and it was SO good. You can build your own hand-tossed style pizza or choose from their Specialty pizzas. They will do half-and-half for you too, even with the Specialties. I was excited that they had pineapple, because I like to get pineapple with ricotta and pepperoni. Don't make that face, it's good! Now for the service: top notch! We had several people come by and check on us, my water glass was never close to being empty, and the real shocker came when they brought our pizza and said, "we forgot to leave the Ranch on the side for your (my date's) half of the pizza, but we've already got another one in the oven for you and it will be right out." So, we got to eat the pizza they brought and then take an entire FREE pizza home just because they made a little mistake. I love when people understand good customer service! Dewey love this place? Yes, yes we do!
(5)Teri D.
Been here many times since moving to the area. We drive all the way from Illinois so you can bet it's good. I don't make a 100-mile round trip for just anything. Dewey's is in a class of eateries that I will travel a long way to visit. The other members of this class include The Raindancer in West Palm Beach, FL for steaks, LaSpada's for subs and Wings Plus for the world's best wings. The service is also great at Dewey's and they definitely have a nice customer service attitude. Gotta love a place where the customer comes first!
(5)Gina S.
I love their Hawaiian pizza. Good toppings, great crust. I typically like deep dish, a close second would be this crust. It's not thick but it's not thin. It's somewhere in between and it's soft and delicious. Best quick lunch or takeout dinner.
(3)Liz Z.
After partaking of pies all over the St. Louis city proper, I have two thumbs up for this "pizza joint." Funny, it doesn't feel like it since the wait staff and hostess are so polite and patient with people who can't seem to make up their minds **pointing at self.** Two visits later (the last being this past Sunday evening), I have to figure out how I'm going to eat a 12" pie on my own, the infamous glutton of awesomely, delicious things. I highly recommend the following: the Green Lantern, the Mushroom variety, and even the "plain" cheese pie. What's so great is that the establishment understands that people come in variety so they give you the option for white or red sauce. Who else does that?? As of now, I'm going to continue to think of excuses why my friends and family NEED to come with me to eat pizza/weekly at Dewey's. Only downfall: parking lot very small and accommodates, maybe, 10-15 vehicles.
(4)Brett K.
Dewey's does one thing and they do it right. They've got this pizza thing figured out. To make it clear, Dewey's does not serve St. Louis style pizza. Dewey's uses Mozzerella, not Provel Cheese. The dough is hand-tossed right in front of you resulting in the best crust that you'll find anywhere in town. Unfortunately I did not have the chance to venture into any of the specialty pizzas this trip. We stuck with half cheese and half pepperoni because of the unadventurous nature of the palettes that accompanied me to Dewey's. I noticed a mega-pepperoni pizza under construction through the large kitchen window. This bad boy must have been covered with 300 slices of pepperoni. Put it this way, you couldn't see the cheese underneath! The only two disappointments were the Greek Salad and the lack of anything other than pizza and salad on the menu. My sadness regarding the salad was induced by the weeds rather than leaf, romaine or iceberg lettuce as the foundation for it. I've never understood the fascination with eating weeds with cheese and salad dressing. I suppose I could have read the menu closer. I normally stay away from a salad constructed of "field greens" aka. weeds. As far as the service, it was excellent and I'm looking forward to my next visit to a Dewey's to munch on some more exotic pizza toppings.
(4)Kathy C.
Went there last night because I've heard that Dewey's is the best pizza in St Louis hands down. And we were not disappointed, it is really great pizza. Hand tossed with a choice of either red or white sauce. You can even get both sauces on the same pizza if you have a half and half order. Fresh toppings made this a really good pizza. Although I wasn't "wow"d by it. I thought Dewey's is kind of wanna be wine bar meets family pizza parlor. The restaurant is decorated very modern, music was a little loud I thought. Wouldn't be a good place to go for a nice quiet dinner date. It was mostly a yuppie crowd with young families dining on the night we were there, great place to go to take the family to get really good pizza at an inexpensive price. I've heard other locations aren't as loud or have as many kids running around. Wait staff is very friendly and on the ball. Water glasses always full and they were always there making sure we didn't need anything. They have a limited wine selection, but what they have goes nicely with pizza. I would go back to try the white sauce, but we agreed that we prefer the pizza and wine selection at the Wine Tap in Belleville. Dewey's is a good substitution for the Wine Tap when we are in St Louis and want a pizza and wine.
(3)Stacy G.
This was my second visit to Dewey's. By nature I'm not a big fan of pizza. Dewey's pizza is fantastic and it is one of the rare places where I actually eat the crust too. This is not your run of the mill pizza chain. The food is fresh and high quality. The small pizza is enough to feed a couple of girls but my male lunch mates can eat the entire thing by themselves. Highly recommend their caesar salad as well. Great food over all! Tables get rather crowded when you each order your own pizza so they should get larger tables to stop seating 6 at a table that is better for 4. I feel as if at any moment a pizza will topple into my lap. Parking is limited but easy to get in and out of.
(4)Robert K.
I consider myself a pizza snob, growing up eating some of the best pizza in the country in Pittsburgh (stop laughing, it;s true), and never cared for local pizza establishments in St. Louis...until Dewey's. The pizza is really, really good, the toppings selections and combinations are exhaustive, salads are fresh and tasty, and the beer selection is well above average. We generally take out from Dewey's, to avoid long waits at peak times, and I recommend cooking the pizza a few more minutes in your own oven as they tend to undercook it (to my taste).
(5)Ce Y.
I think overall their pizza is very good and also unique because of their bread. I guess it depends on what kind of pizza you are in the mood for. They are not deep dish, and I would not consider them to be thin crust either. The dough they use is soft and just a tad sweet, nice and crispy on the bottom with a brush of yummy "butter" (?? not sure what it really was some sort of awesome oil) along the outer edges of the crust. We got their special which was a buffalo chicken pizza - very different and great toppings - chicken with buffalo sauce, blue cheese, and small pieces of crunchy celery. I can't wait to come back to try their other pizzas! For under 20 bucks we got a medium sized pizza and a beer, which was enough food to stuff 2 people.
(4)Terrence L.
Def the best gourmet pizza joint in STL! No question... The crust is the best for hand-tossed that I've ever had. The herb & garlic taste is everywhere in this pizza too. The Green-Lantern is my fav besides pepperoni....I think I'm hungry right now!
(5)Stephanie S.
I LOVE this place. The pizza has never ever disappointed me. I've had the Rocky Balboa (one of their specialty pizzas), and MY was it tasty. You really can't go wrong with anything here. The service is really good, too.
(5)Stacey T.
I love pizza but Dewey's is boring. The two things that really impressed me was the quality soundtrack of music playing in the background and the awesome teamwork I saw from the busser, hostess and bartender. They were great but the pizza was lame.
(2)Michael H.
Expectations can sometimes be very dangerous. There was quite a bit of fan-fare and hub-bub from friends and reviews for Dewey's, so me and the girl gave it a shot; I have to say I was put down by the pizza. We ordered one half meatball and one half Socrates. The meat half had sparse cheese and toppings and quite the boring pizza sauce. The Socrates half was also quite sparse on toppings, and their "white" pizza sauce didn't really add any flavor. The crust was the best part of it all, maybe if they would just make breadsticks... One thing I will give this place props for is ambiance and friendly service. While it wasn't the fastest, there were some really cool and friendly people working there. They also had a small array of mostly seasonal beers.
(2)Mary S.
Great pizza, calzones, salads and service. We will definately be back.
(5)Jason P.
Excellent pizzas with a wide selection of toppings. Give this place a try!! It's one of the best in the area.
(4)Amanda Z.
Hmmmm...some of the reviews on here don't make Dewey's so much....and maybe they are Bush supporters...which I can't say I agree with...on any level....but I really love their pizza...I can't help it....I just...love their pizza so much... They have so many arrays and options for toppings. My favorite is the Edgar Allen Poe...goat cheese, roasted garlic, mozzerella, fresh tomatoes, and TONS of black olives...delicious. This might be my favorite, but I have never had anything bad at Dewey's. In fact, every pizza I have had here was amazing. You can also half and half your pizza, so instead of two people having to order two huge pizzas that they will never finish, you can get it split, or get a smaller pizza and try two different kinds out if you want to have a fat kid day....like I always seem to be having when I go to Dewey's. The salads are phenomenal as well...but seriously, I rarely opt for them since the pizzas are so darn good. The staff is always so nice and they have a solid beer selection as well. None of that standard AB/Miller swill you get at most pizza places. Bonus points for not breaking the bank.
(4)flyinglimegreen T.
Pretty good. Fresh food, pizza had a nice crust. LOVED the salad with the grapes in 'em. The only thing that was a little weird: ALL of their pizzas sounded phenomenal...exactly the way i like, with neat ingredients put together thoughtfully, as opposed to a pile of cheese and meat on a crust. We got the mushroom pizza and the green lantern. They each had a nice array of toppings that sounded so scrumptious. But when I bit into the pizzas, the flavors just didn't come through for some reason. Maybe it's just me and the stupid medication I'm on (for acne, not the crazies), but the flavors just didn't gel for me...on those two pizzas...I will DEFINITELY go back and try the others. Bottomline: A great place for fresh food without the "luxury" tax.
(3)Jay W.
I'll keep this short. Dewey's is the best NY style pizza in St. Louis. It's not really fair to compare it to places in other cities. This is St. Louis after all. Try the Green Lantern. It is amazing when you eat it in the restaurant. It's not too great for take-out though.
(5)Jeff G.
Dewey's offers the closest thing to New York-style pizza I have had in St. Louis. But while it is fairly authentic in style and appearance, it is far from measuring up to a true New York pie. I will admit the atmosphere was great (you walk in and see dough being flung in the air) and the service was exceptional, but I am not completely sold on Dewey's yet. We went on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We decided to have a drink (decent beer selection) and eat at the bar. Our server was friendly and he did not seem deterred by the overwhelming volume of people in the restaurant. Still, I was expecting a little more. Don't get me wrong, it was a good pie. I think we just fell victim to over-hyped expectations. Plus, the place was so busy I get the feeling the cooks did not put their best effort into the product. My biggest complaint is with the overcooked crust. But I don't think that is a common experience for most at Dewey's, as I have heard nothing but positive reviews. The sauce was savory and the cheese was plentiful. We plan to go back and try it again, because their is definitely potential for a delectable pizza.
(3)Dean B.
Dewey's is alright, I don't really get why everyone seems to get worked up over them. It's middle-of-the-road pizza, nothing too special about it. Comes in only 1 type of crust (the bland "hand tossed" style, which inspires yawns all around). You can see the workers in the back throwing the dough around during your long wait for a table, or you can squint your eyes to watch their lone 17" tv in the corner (why even have a tv if it's going to be so small?). If you like lots of weird junk on your pizza, they can accommodate. But that's not really a calling card, since almost every pizza place takes pride in the weird stuff they put on their pies. Like most other pizza joints nowadays they have wacky names for all their specialties. The service is alright but seems overworked. This is a good place to go to if you're with a group of people that can't come to an agreement on anywhere else. That being said, the pizza's not bad, but let's not get worked up here.
(3)Jenna L.
I love fresh mozzarella. And I love fresh mozzarella on my pizza with Dewey's zesty and spicy red sauce. But, more than that, the crust is what draws me! Chewy, buttery, and satisfying. The Grape Walnut Salad is also very fresh and delicious--never overdressed. It's good for small groups, since you can half-and-half your pizza choice. So many intriguing, adult options. This is my go to place, when I can't decide where to go. The service is always good too.

When I asked some folks I know to recommend pizza places in Saint Louis, several mentioned Dewey's. But the thing is, they all talked about how wonderful the salads were. For me, that's the "she has a nice personality" of restaurants -- if the most remarkable thing at a pizza joint isn't the crust or the sauce, that's probably because the crust and the sauce are crappy. So I put off trying Dewey's. But my curiosity (and hunger) eventually got the better of me and I headed over to the Dewey's outpost on North and South for dinner. And I'm glad that I did. When you walk through the door, you're faced with a long corridor that swings you past large windows behind which you can watch the pizza monkeys hand-tossing the fresh dough, applying the toppings, and operating the ovens. The restaurant proper is a little loud and could probably do with less overhead music, but the waitstaff is *everywhere* and the bar has 10 draft beers so who am I to complain? Which brings me to the pizza. (What, you thought I was going to order the salads?) It's good, solid East Coast-style pizza. Not cracker-type crust, not Chicago deep dish, just really well done thin-crust pizza. The cheese (NOT PROVEL) is good, the crust is nice and fairly light, the toppings are high-quality (and there's good variety available), and the sauce has that correct tang that makes it *pizza* and not spaghetti sauce on bread. Definitely a thumbs-up all around. Except for the meatball pizza, which is nasty. But everything else was good. Dewey's shoots for a somewhat upscale market, so the restaurant is filled with folks in their 30s and their kids and the prices are a little higher than most other good pizza places. It's very good pizza, though, and worth the cash. And no, I still haven't tried the salads.

Excellent toppings. Great salads. Fair price. The crust is so-so, but I'll still take Dewey's over Pi any day. I usually crave the Billy-goat. There is usually a wait though and parking can sometimes be a pain.

When I eat pizza, I ALWAYS leave the crust. Or I give it away. But not at Dewey's! This is the one crust that I actually eat (ok ok...with a little ranch for dipping, but still!), because it is brushed with garlic butter. We're not talking Papa John's garlic butter here...it's the real deal. And anyone who knows me knows that I love my gahlic. Ooo, that sounds bad. Moving on. Unless you're like my boyfriend and you despise any food that even resembles the color green, order a salad first. The salads here are A-MA-ZING. I've tried every one that is vegetarian, and my personal favorites are the Greek (with roasted garlic, red onions, cukes, kalmata olives, feta, and a roasted red pepper dressing) and the Candied Walnut and Grape (with candied walnuts, grapes, gorgonzola cheese, I always add red onion cuz I love my onions too, and a thick citrus basil vinaigrette). The house and caesar salads are really excellent as well though. Pizzas come in 11, 13, and 17 inches, and are on the gourmet side of pizza, I always get half Socrates Revenge (a white pizza with spinach, black and green olives, red onions, feta, tomatoes, and minced garlic) and half create your own with minced garlic, red onions, and fresh mozzarella cheese. You can get half and half of anything, which is great, and it's always delish. They don't have appetizers, which I wish they would consider adding, but they do have calzones if you want to go that route. I have never ordered one, but my boyfriend ordered one the other night that looked INCREDIBLE. You get to choose up to three toppings, so of course he chose all meat (pepperoni, sausage, and bacon), and this thing was HUGE and stuffed to the brim with toppings. You dip it in the sauce, as you do with all calzones, so if you like your sauce as much as me, you may want to ask for a little extra. On to the service...all three locations probably have some of the best service that I've had anywhere. A drink never goes unfilled, and the waiters and waitresses work as a team so that no one is ever neglected. They have made a few minors errors in all of my times dining in (like sending my boyfriend a 13 inch instead of a 17 inch, or putting basil on my fresh mozzarella half), and they have caught them before I have, and made new pizzas immediately without me even asking. There are a lot of places that could learn a thing or two from Dewey's (ahem Frank and Helen's and Onesto)! I will however, say that when I've gotten take out from this location, my pizza has come out a bit overdone a time or two (thus 4 stars and not 5), probably because the manager didn't check it first as he/she usually does. But this never happens when dining in. And hey, I may be a little too old for it, but even I like to stand at the window and watch pizza dough thrown in the air sometimes...

Definitely in the running for best pizza in StL. Awesome crust, interesting toppings, fast service, good beers, what else do you want?

One day I met some friends up for lunch and we decided to go to Dewey's Pizza over in University City. Since we went there for lunch and downtown Clayton is just right down the road the place was packed. Luckily enough we had gotten there just before the lunch rush. We sat at our table and ordered a pizza that we could all agree on, green peppers and hamburger meat. Our drinks were brought to us in the stander large restaurant soda glasses to ensure we had enough to drink between times that our waitress would come and check up on us to make sure that everything was fine. Not long after our pizza was brought out to us, nice and hot. The pizza was everything that expected of it. It was like a perfect child. The cheese was just right, not too much nor too little. It was proportionate with the thickness of the crust. The toppings were plentiful, but not too much so that they are the only things that you taste as you eat a slice. Dewey's Pizza was a nice choice for lunch that day, one that we will probably make again in the future as well; great pizza and service.

So, I don't know how long this place has been here, but I had never noticed it before. I had heard a lot about Deweys before we met a couple friends here for a weeknight dinner. Not a huge pizza fan usually, but I really loved my dinner! Like, loved that pizza! We split half bbq chicken, and half green hornet or green something. That was the killer pizza. It had pesto on it, which sounded weird, but boy am I glad i tried it. Place was clean, service was professional. The couple we were with eat there all the time, & had good things to say about the salads & calzones, which we'll try next time, because we'll be back!

overrated. tried the bronx bomber, and liked it, but did not think this place was worth the hype. i would be up for giving dewey's another try sometime, but my first impression is this is just another average pizza place.

My favorite pizza in St. Louis, and way better than anything I've found in DC. Also the closest to NY-style pizza I've found outside of NY. Crust is just the right amount of chewy, and toppings are really fresh, plus, there's a great selection of toppings. Decent beer list too. Only thing I don't like is that there's always lots of young kids there, but that's to be expected in a pizza place.

I just realized I hadn't reviewed Dewey's yet and it is by far my absolute favorite pizza restaurant in St. Louis. Nevermind that it's a chain, it's awesome! The pizza is incredibly good. It's hand-tossed crust with a hint of garlic mixed in. You can choice from red sauce or white sauce (olive oil based) and the usual toppings, though they have a nice selection of specialty pizzas. The menu is basic, offering just pizza, salads, and calzones (no appetizers). But do not pass up the salads, they are amazing. Service is great and very fast.

While in St Louis on business and visiting my cousin, I was directed by her to visit Dewey's. I was a little hesitant to go, since I now live in Charlotte, NC I know that bad pizza does exists in this world. To my surprise, this was not the case here. We went on a Friday night and of course the sign of a good place is a line...and Dewey's had a long one. When we were finally seated, I took in the surroundings of trendy IKEA style tables & chairs with upbeat wait staff running about in black Ts and jeans. The pricing on the menu was very reasonable for a place like this as a large 17" Plain, Anchovies pie was only $13.35. To start the meal I order a House Side Salad for $4.95. It was excellent with nuts, cranberries, mixed greens, feta cheese and topped with a decent vinaigrette dressing. The pizza was a good, East Coast-style pizza. The crust was thin but well done with a brush of olive oil for taste. The sauce had the nice bit of bite that I love with my only complaint being on the cheese. It was a little lower in quality than I had anticipated based on everything else; as it was on the waxy side in consistency. For desert, I had the Crme Torte $4.50, which was excellent. Overall, I would definitely go to Dewey's again, even after I found out they were started in OH (it is an originally being from Pittsburgh thing). Likes- . Salads, yes the salads!!! . Sauce, nice and a little spicy . Wait staff, super friendly and fast . Crust...very good Dislikes- . Cheese, need better quality . It started in OH...boo Browns, boo Bengals!!

My favorite pizza in St Louis. They offer really interesting pizza topping combinations that are way more than your normal pepperoni. The Green Lantern is superb. The pizza crust is also wonderful, thin in the middle and the crust is puffy and chewy and perfect. One thing to look out for though is they don't take reservations so be ready for a wait on a Friday or Saturday night. However, they do have an open window to the kitchen where you can watch them throwing the dough which helps pass the time.

The pizza is OK - almost identical to the veggie pizza the Barnes cafeteria served for years . Which I liked. But I didn't have to wait 45 min for a table. Wish I could still get it at Barnes. Dewey's is pretty good, but really not worth the wait.

It's great pizza. That's the bottom line. The crust is awesome, the candied walnut and grape salad is amazing, and the selection is pretty fantastic. I always make it a point to go when I'm in town.

Good pizza. Fun place. Good beer selection too.

Great salads, great 'za, cold beer, good service... If they'd take a reservation for groups, I'd give it a 5.

After moving to St. Louis from NY I have finally found great pizza! I love Deweys!! Their meatball and billy goat pizzas are delicious.

High quality place. Pleasurly different pizza with unique and yummy toppings. And for those of you that don't like to experiment with your pizza, you can still get a standard pizza. Their salad is great too! Expect a wait if you go during the dinner rush.
